In this project, the client provided a broken part — a motorcycle trunk cover — for restoration and reproduction. The goal was to recreate the part using 3D scanning and additive manufacturing technologies.
The process began with high-precision 3D scanning of the original component. Based on the scanned data, a digital model was created and further refined by a 3D designer.
During the modeling stage, weak areas were reinforced, damaged sections were reconstructed, and the design was optimized for improved durability. The final model was approved by the client before production.
The part was manufactured using FDM 3D printing in brown PET-G plastic. This material was selected due to its excellent layer adhesion, which provides enhanced strength and mechanical reliability compared to many other thermoplastics.
After printing, the part underwent post-processing, including support removal and light surface finishing, resulting in a clean and ready-to-use component.
The combination of 3D scanning, modeling, and 3D printing enables efficient repair of damaged parts, production of custom replacements, and extension of component lifespan without relying on original spare parts.
Advantages of this process:
- 3D scanning of existing parts
- Reverse engineering and 3D modeling
- Reinforcement of weak areas
- Durable PET-G material with strong layer adhesion
- Fast production without molds
We also provide:
