3D Printing of a Load-Bearing Part

In this project we carried out the 3D printing of a part subjected to mechanical load. The client brought us an original component that had broken during normal use and required a functional replacement.

Using the damaged part as a reference, we created an accurate 3D model, preserving all critical dimensions and load-bearing areas. This allowed us to reproduce the part with the same functionality as the original.

Initial problem

The original component was exposed to continuous mechanical stress, which eventually caused it to fail. Since the part was custom-made, no commercial spare part was available.

  • Broken part due to mechanical load
  • Component used under real working conditions
  • No off-the-shelf replacement available

Applied solution

We performed precise 3D modeling based on the original component, reinforcing critical areas where necessary to improve durability. The final part was produced using FDM 3D printing with PET-G plastic, a material well suited for technical parts thanks to its strength, flexibility and impact resistance.

Technology and material

  • Printing technology: FDM
  • Material: PET-G
  • Optimized print orientation for load resistance
  • Tolerances adjusted for real-world use

Final result

The result was a durable and fully functional replacement part, ready to be used again under the same working conditions. 3D printing made it possible to reduce both lead time and cost compared to traditional manufacturing methods.

  • Operational under mechanical load
  • Direct replacement of the original part
  • Fast and cost-effective custom manufacturing

Do you have a broken or discontinued part?

If you need to reproduce a technical part subjected to load, we can help you with 3D modeling and 3D printing using materials suitable for functional applications. We work from broken parts, physical samples or technical drawings.

Frequently asked questions

Can a 3D printed part handle real mechanical load?

Yes, provided that the material, geometry and print orientation are correctly selected for the specific application.

Do you only work with PET-G?

No, we select the material based on requirements such as strength, temperature resistance and operating environment.

Can you improve the original design?

Yes, during the 3D modeling phase we can reinforce critical areas to extend the service life of the part.
